Lisgar Collegiate Institute is uniquely situated in the downtown community and welcomes students from across the region. It thrives on the cultural diversity of its students and its international outlook. Lisgar Collegiate Institute offers a variety of courses across the full range of programs at the university, college, academic, and applied levels to broaden students' knowledge and experience.

Lisgar Collegiate Institute has a long tradition of excellence in the following areas:

* Academics: through a variety of courses in all disciplines, including Classical Studies and international languages, through the international Advanced Placement program, which offers a challenging alternative to the International Baccalaureate program, and through the gifted program, established at Lisgar Collegiate Institute as the first program of its kind in Ontario in 1957.

* Arts: through the music program, including orchestra, string, band and jazz ensembles, drama, and visual programs.

* Athletics: through intra-mural and inter-scholastic programs, fostering a balanced healthy life style.

Lisgar Collegiate Institute continues to develop innovative learning approaches to challenge students in a changing world. New opportunities include interdisciplinary studies combining, for example, arts and civilization, math and social sciences, and project-based learning.

Lisgar Collegiate Institute also offers a wide range of enriching opportunities for learning and enjoyment beyond the traditional classroom milieu through its numerous clubs, such as space simulation, improv, robotics and animation, and music ensembles from classical music to jazz.
