Notice from Ottawa Public Health

A reminder to parents that their children 's immunization boosters are due ten years after the preschool booster, usually between 14 and 16 years of age.  Parents are encouraged to ensure that their children's vaccinations are up-to-date, and to contact Ottawa Public Health to update our records each time their children receives any immunization. ONTARIO SECONDARY SCHOOL LITERARY TEST (OSSLT)

The OSSLT is a standardized test administered by the province of Ontario as a pre-requisite for obtaining the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.  All students in grade 10 this year, excluding those who are exempted or deferred for academic or compassionate reasons, and any grade 11 or 12 student who has not previously passed the test, will be writing it on April 2.

The test will be administered at Lisgar Collegiate starting at 8:40 a.m. in assigned classrooms on the second and third floor.  Students who are writing the test will follow their normal timetable for afternoon classes.  Students who have been deferred will work independently in the library in the morning and will follow their normal timetable in the afternoon.

Students who are eligible to write the OSSLT this year with accommodations will soon be receiving notification via letter to their parents.  The notice will contain details any accommodations, such as extra time or use of a computer, for which the student is eligible.

If your child is registered to write the test on April 2 but he or she is unable to do so, for any reason, please contact Vice Principal, Anne McKillop-Ostrom, (613) 239-2696. (03/23/2009)

These programs are designed to provide high school students with the opportunity to experience a 'hands-on' program for one semester. Cross Boundary Transfer Information

OCDSB Online Transfer Request site for Lisgar CI

This year our cap is set at 80. Secondary School Transfer application period for the 2009-2010 school year is February 17 to 27, 2009. The online transfer request system will open on February 17, at 10:30 am and will close on February 18, 4:00 pm. Principal Gledhill Retires

It has been a pleasure and a privilege to serve as Principal of Lisgar Collegiate Institute the past three and a half years. Lisgar is an exceptional school, with tremendously talented students, committed staff members, involved parents, a wonderful School Council and an active and enthusiastic Alumni Executive.

Potential OC Transpo Stike

Recent media reports are indicating a possible OC Transpo strike, which could begin as early as Wednesday, December 10.  While I am hopeful that an agreement can be reached by the City and the Union, a contingency plan is being developed by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB). Spaghetti Dinner and Trivia Night a Success

Spaghetti Dinner and Trivia Night proved to be very successful with about 150 in attendance. $1500 was raised for Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa and the Lisgar "Reach for the Top" team, for which we would like to thank all our sponsors, helpers and guests.

Congratulations to the "Reach" team who played in the Ottawa QuizBowl tournament last weekend and, for the 4th consecutive year, qualified for the American National Academic Quiz Tournament Finals in Chicago, in late May. (11/17/2008)

2008 EQAO Conference - Invitation to view live webcasts

On November 13 and 14, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) will host its 2008 conference, entitled “Large-Scale Assessment: Supporting the Everyday Work of Schools—Balanced Assessment: Completing the Picture.” This year’s theme will be addressed by leaders in Ontario’s education system and experts in large-scale assessments. The sessions will explore the role played by various assessments in providing information that supports improved student learning.
